Torrent Zunaia flood management works
Project Description:
Flood management works on torrent Zunaia, to protect the town of Alleghe (BL), within the Dolomites region in Italy. The area is subjected to a high hydrogeological risk.
Works aimed to reduce the detrimental effects of flood waters and prevent damage caused by high water levels.
The first phase of works, affecting the Molini village area, has been completed between years 2006-2008 and included:
- Construction of a 6m tall selective weir
- Construction of two concrete stability thresholds on both sides, downstream of the weir to limit erosion phenomena and damage.
Final and Detailed Design.
Supervision of Works.
The second phase has been completed in 2016 and included:
- Consolidation of a 200 m portion of the retaining walls on both banks of the river
- Recalibration of riverbed
- Design of new reservoir downstream to avoid possible damage due to debris to the ski run located downstream and to better protect the town of Alleghe
