Feasibility Study of a new hydropower plant and revamping of the existing one in Satriano di Lucania (PZ)
The goal of the new plant is to optimize the usage of the available water resources contributing to the fulfilment of Basilicata Region energy needs. At the same time an operative hydropower plant is expected to generate new opportunities of employment and overall positive socio-economic repercussions within the area.
Furthermore, the feasibility study focuses on other important aspects of the assignment and foresees important interventions, such as:
-
- architectural and structural recovery of an ancient torrential mill through its functional conversion to hydroelectric production
- easing the integration of the historical and architectural element of the water mill with the technological element represented by the turbine-generator unit
- ensure the accessibility and free access for all citizens since the Client is interested in the creation of a cultural point of interest with educational purpose
The design for the revamping of the old Satriano Hydropower Plant included:
- Sand trap improvement works to avoid stashing of larger debris that may cause damage
- Works on Pietra del Corvo seasonal compensation reservoir to improve its hydraulic sealing and to restore the reservoir’s capacity
- Unification of Irrigation Area n.1 pipes and the pipe that feeds the plant. The installation of appropriate interception devices should grant the operativity of the irrigation scheme as originally conceived allowing the reduction of distributed head losses and the increasing of the producibility of the existing plant outside of the irrigation period
- - Maintenance works and, if necessary, of some electromechanical parts due to the wear of said equipment (under a single jet Pelton turbine)
- - Complete restoration of the functionality of the 'Vigna la Noce' reservoir
