Project Description:
The engagement is part of the Market Development Programme (MDP), works aimed at assessing Mali hydropower potential to develop mini grids.
Five analysis of regional small hydropower potential led to the identification of five possible sites within Sikasso region:
Farako 1,
Farako 2,
Woroni,
Zanso and
Lobougoula.
For each identified site, a site visit report including a hydropower potential evaluation and an identification of a feasible project layout, has been led.
Activities Performed:
Assess critical small hydro power and biomass gaps, identify two critical resource knowledge gaps and conduct two selected small hydro or biomass resource mappings
Collect market data on the state of play of the mini-grid sector in Africa, develop a methodology to continuously monitor and store such sector market data and train selected partners for sustainable maintenance
